Larry F. Wilkes

Larry F. Wilkes, M.S., C.S.C.S.

Larry Wilkes is a native of Savannah, GA, and has been an Exercise Physiologist for 14 years. Larry specializes in sports strength & conditioning training, personal training and working with special populations to maximize performance and health.

Larry has been employed at the St. Joseph's/Candler Wellness Center since 1996, where he performs fitness evaluations and develops individualized exercise programs. Larry is responsible for administering fitness assessments for the City of Savannah Fire Department utilizing National Fire Protection Association fitness protocols, and he coordinates the Shapedown Program for obese children.

During his employment at the Wellness Center, Larry has supervised daily operations of the Kerr McGee fitness facility (2000-2002), managed the Colonial Oil fitness center (2008-2009), and is currently the instructor for Kidz Fit, a children's fitness class targeting overweight children. Larry also held the position of Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Savannah State University from 2000-2002.

Prior to joining the Wellness Center, Larry was a Graduate Assistant at Armstrong Atlantic State University performing duties at the Wellness Center, a General Manager with General Nutrition Center, and a Radiologic Technologist for the United States Navy.

Larry earned his M.S. degree in Health Science/Exercise Science/Public Health from Armstrong Atlantic State University, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.), and is certified in CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
